Sonatas in Red
Event date : Jun. 02, 2007

Sonatas in Red (June 2, 2007) was a charity event to fund prostate cancer imaging research at the University of California San Francisco/Mission Bay, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC and the Pelican Cancer Foundation in the UK.

Set on the grounds of the Peter Michael Estate, “Sonatas” was an evening to remember, filled with classical music, dining and Peter Michael wines.  Guests were treated to an inspired performance by violin virtuoso Elizabeth Pitcairn, playing the legendary 1720 “Red” Mendelssohn Stradivarius.  Elizabeth has owned and played this nearly 300 year-old violin since she was 16. www.elizabethpitcairn.com

Hosted by Paul and Emily Michael, festivities commenced with a reception on the main lawn below the Michaels’ residence accompanied by L’Après-Midi and passed canapés.  As the sun set, guests meandered through the gorgeous English Gardens to the Pinot Noir Barrel Room inside the winery for Ms. Pitcairn’s performance.

After the performance, guests enjoyed an exquisite dinner prepared by critically acclaimed caterer Melissa Teaff and paired with rare Peter Michael wines.

The "Grand Finale" was the Live Auction of unique and exciting offerings.

In addition, to commemorate the evening, guests received copies of one of Elizabeth’s CD’s, a commemorative silver bottle stopper and Hands and Hearts, the award-winning culinary book featuring recipes from 15 of the world’s finest chefs paired wit
